Opinion: Montgomery County may finally pass Thrive 2050, even as a group of residents tries to stall or block it, arguing that there hasn’t been enough community input. It appears, however, that opponents want more say for themselves — not the increasingly diverse residents who need to be heard the most.

Shady Grove, Rockville Metro stations to reopen in January

The Shady Grove and Rockville Metro stations are set to reopen January 16 after four months of being closed for repairs. Those repairs will continue even as the stations reopen.  (DCist)

DC Council pushes back vote on encampments

The DC Council has postponed a vote on a bill that would prevent Mayor Muriel Bowser’s administration from clearing homeless encampments in the winter. Some councilmembers expressed concern the bill was too limiting, and could prevent officials from removing encampments on sidewalks or school grounds. Metro wheelset problem found in 6000-series car is ‘outlier,’ officials say

The wheelset widening issue that took all of Metro’s 7000-series cars out of commission has also been identified in one 6000-series railcar, but officials say it’s an outlier and not related to the 7000-series issue.  (Justin George / Post)

Driver crashes into Shaw library, injuring nanny with baby stroller

A nanny pushing a child in a stroller was forced to dodge the driver of a car, who crashed into the Shaw library on Tuesday. The child was not injured. The driver declined medical treatment and was not arrested.  (Justin Wm. Moyer / Post)
