Welcome to the newly elected St Ann’s Councillor Corall Jenkins

Cllr Jenkins

On Thursday 7 October a new Labour councillor was elected for St Ann's. Councillor Jenkins was born and raised in St Ann’s and says…

‘Firstly I like to say a massive thank you to everyone who voted in the By- Election. As promised I'd like to work with you all to achieve the improvements in St Ann's that you want and need. It's going to be hard work but as we work together we can achieve great things. Our local areas develop when we all pull together.  I will be walking around St Ann's and knocking on doors or seeing you on the road, to say 'hello' and do stop me and say 'hello' too. I am so looking forward to seeing you all. Don't forget, the will be regular Ward Walks and I do so hope you will join in when we hit your area. Stay safe and well.’

Councillor Corall Jenkins

Don't get caught out this Christmas

Nottingham City Council’s Trading Standards team are asking Nottingham residents to be careful when buying presents for children:

  • Look for the CE or UKCA mark: These symbols on the label or box mean the manufacturer has assessed the toy for safety
  • Button-batteries can kill:  Check they are screwed in firmly and safely before giving to a child
  • Check age restrictions: Toys must be clearly marked with age restrictions - always follow them, they’re there for a reason

Worried about money this Christmas?

bills

With increases in bills and the cost of living as well as taxes going up and continuing issues around the pandemic, this Christmas will be a tough one for many.

Taking out payday or doorstep loans is a bad idea - they might seem like an easy way to get cash quickly, but you'll end up paying an arm and a leg due to sky-high interest rates.

The cheapest places to borrow money will always be a bank, building society or Notts and Lincs Credit Union - who may be able to help where others can't if you have a poor credit history.

Making your money go further

Council Tax Support

If you are on Universal Credit, you can get help with Council Tax costs. You need to make a separate claim for Council Tax Support. Apply online.

Pension Credit

Did you know that over a third of those entitled to Pension Credit haven't yet claimed it?  Check now if you are eligible: either use the online calculator or call Age UK Notts on 0115 844 0011.

Warm Home Discount

Could you get the Warm Home Discount of £140?  It's for those on low income and certain benefits.  See if you may be able to claim it
