Hello John,

As the year comes to an end, I wanted to take the next couple of weeks to reflect on the amazing work we have been able to do at the Pacific Justice Institute through your support.

When thinking about impactful cases, I think of the nurse who was denied a promotion because of her religious views against abortion.

Julie Amoruso, who has been a Christian for over 25 years, was a nurse practitioner for Kaiser Permanente South Sacramento Medical Center (KPSS). She was promoted to that position after working as a registered nurse for KPSS for 18 years, including 3 years of experience in women’s health.

Ms. Amoruso then applied for the position of Women’s Health nurse practitioner at KPSS. She believes that abortion is a legal procedure that ends the life of a human being, and therefore the procedure amounts to murder. She believes the Bible’s commandment that thou shalt not kill precludes her from assisting with abortions. In fact, she has never assisted in an abortion procedure.

Prior to her interview with the hiring manager at KPSS, Ms. Amoruso informed recruitment services that her religious beliefs prohibit her from assisting in abortions. During the interview, she also informed the hiring manager - when directly asked about her objection to abortions - that she could not participate in an abortion procedure because of her religious beliefs.

Soon after, Ms. Amoruso was told by the manager of the OBGYN department that she would not be hired for the practitioner position due to her refusal to participate in an abortion.

Upon hearing about this case, we immediately knew that Julie’s religious rights and civil liberties were being violated, and Pacific Justice acted immediately to stand with Julie. In fact, we have represented her for several years, completely free of charge.

Cases like this are the reason I’m so grateful for faithful supporters like you, John. When you donate and support Pacific Justice Institute, you ensure that we can connect qualified, determined, and passionate lawyers to represent people like Julie, at no charge.

Will you consider giving a generous gift during this year-end season? ([link removed])

Your gift, whether large or small, will help us to continue to represent people like Julie all around the nation in 2022. And through our matching gift program, your donation (whether one-time or monthly) will be matched, dollar-for-dollar, allowing us to put twice the resources toward the ministry. ([link removed])

God bless you and your family and thank you for your support.
