Dear John

Facebook Remove Military Company Pages

This morning Facebook announced they will be removing the Facebook Pages on Burmese military-owned companies. These companies help fund the human rights violations by the military and it is outrageous that Facebook allowed the military to use their website to raise funds.

More than 50,000 people signed our petition calling on Facebook to remove military company pages. Thank you to everyone who supported the campaign. It worked!

Facebook sued by Rohingya for role in genocide

Facebook is facing a $150bn lawsuit in the UK and USA for its role in facilitating genocide of the Rohingya. Burma Campaign UK is supporting the case.

Mark Farmaner, Director, Burma Campaign UK, commented: "These cases are important not just to compensate Rohingya genocide survivors, but also to force Facebook to face up to the role it played in facilitating genocide and change the way it operates. Even today Facebook still allows the military to use Facebook to raise funds and spread propaganda."

You can read the full media release about the case here. ([link removed])
