⚠️The United States is contemplating spending$634 billion to re-arm the nuclear triad, moving us closer and closer to a dangerous nuclear war⚠️



That’s why it’s more urgent than ever that our Representatives institute a policy of No First Use and No Sole Authority in order to reduce the grave peril posed by nuclear weapons.

We know that establishing a policy of No First Use is just the first step towards our ultimate goal of abolishing nuclear weapons, but it’s important that we act now. Soon, President Joe Biden will begin the Nuclear Posture Review which will determine the administration’s approach to nuclear policy. As of today, China, Russia, and North Korea are at risk of a nuclear strike from the United States under Trump's 2018 Nuclear Posture Review, which allows the U.S. to make such an attack in retaliation for non-nuclear attacks, including attacks on allies, infrastructure, and even cyber attacks. If we want to avoid a devastating nuclear war, we need to demonstrate broad public support for a policy of No First Use, especially considering that many other nuclear-armed countries that are targets of U.S. aggression, like China, already have a No First Use policy in place and have called for the U.S. to establish the same.

There are two bills in Congress, the Markey-Lieu Bill (S.1148, HR.669) and the Warren-Smith Bill (S.1219, HR.2603), that would institute a No First Use Policy. These bills should be uncontroversial for anyone who wants to avoid a potentially disastrous nuclear war. Yet, Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi and Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer haven’t used their leadership to make sure these bills get a vote. Call on your Representatives to institute a policy of No First Use and demand that Pelosi and Schumer bring the bills to a vote!  <[link removed]>



Establishing a policy of No First Use is just the first step towards our ultimate goal of abolishing nuclear weapons.
