Magnus Confirmed as CBP Commissioner
WASHINGTON, D.C. — The Senate has confirmed Tucson Police Chief Chris Magnus as commissioner of U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) on a 50-47 vote.
Magnus has been a longtime member of the Law Enforcement Immigration Task Force.
"Chief Magnus’s leadership will be crucial as CBP addresses challenges at our borders and within our nation’s largest law enforcement agency," said Ali Noorani, President and CEO of the National Immigration Forum. "Having served as police chief in Tucson, Arizona, Chief Magnus understands what it means to live in a border community and keep it safe. His prioritization of security and human dignity is the approach CBP needs as it works toward orderly, secure and compassionate border solutions."
