[1]Cori Bush

John, I recently
announced that we’re officially running again to represent Missouri’s 1st
District in Congress.

It fills my heart to see how many of you have posted online to share our
announcement, sent us messages about how excited you are for this
campaign, and to see how big our movement has grown since I first ran for
Congress.

You see, when I first ran for Congress, there was so much doubt. No one
thought that someone like me could be elected to office. You don’t meet
that many members of Congress who’ve been evicted, lived in their car, or
even lived paycheck to paycheck.

But that’s exactly why it was so important to me to run. Because it’s
everyday people like you and me,
John, that should be driving our
politics.

And it’s with people power that we defeated a 20-year incumbent to become
the first Black woman and the first nurse to represent Missouri in
Congress and the first activist from the movement in defense of Black
lives to be elected to federal office.

[ [link removed] ]That’s why today I’m reaching out to ask for your personal endorsement.
By adding your name, you’re sending a loud and powerful message that
there’s a grassroots movement rising up to help keep us in Congress
pushing for meaningful, progressive change.

I remember the first time I saw my name on a ballot. I was overwhelmed as
I remembered all of the reasons I'd decided to run — to protect my kids
from being the next children killed by police, to ensure no one else would
go without a home or food as I had done, and to create a new kind of
politics that works for regular, everyday people.

This movement has had my back at every turn and together we’ve made so
much progress already in my first term in office. To be clear though, our
work isn't finished yet.

People are still going to bed hungry. Folks in St. Louis are still being
evicted in the midst of an ever-changing pandemic. And the climate crisis
threatens us all. We need to pass critical legislation including Medicare
for All, the Green New Deal for Cities, and the People's Response Act —
families and future generations are counting on us.

To be honest with you, it’s going to be a battle to make sure we keep this
seat. We won our race last year by just three points, so the GOP isn't
going to make this easy on us. Already the far-right and Fox News have
attacked me for bringing my full self to Congress.

I won't apologize, and I won't stop telling our stories. But I can’t do
this alone: I need your help to build the people-powered movement we need
to win this race:

honor of giving your personal endorsement to help us build the grassroots
movement we need to keep this seat and take our fight for bold,
progressive change to the next level.

Thank you for all of your support.

Your Congresswoman loves you,

Cori
