In a moment, I’m going to ask you to split a donation between Stacey Abrams’ campaign for governor and our work. [[link removed]?] But first, I hope you’ll give me a chance to explain why this request is so important.

In 2018, Stacey came incredibly close to winning Georgia’s gubernatorial election against Brian Kemp — a race Kemp ran as the sitting Secretary of State.

But even after many national Democrats wrote Georgia off as a ‘red’ state, Stacey never gave up on the people of Georgia. Instead, she fought to protect access to the ballot box and worked around the clock to register and organize Democratic voters.

Thanks to her leadership, Georgia elected Senators Ossoff and Warnock, securing the Democratic Senate majority. But since then, Georgia Republicans have passed anti-democratic laws designed to restrict access to the ballot box in an attempt to make it easier for them to win in 2022, especially targeting people of color.

We need Stacey’s fearless leadership now more than ever, but she’s got a tough fight ahead and she’ll need a strong grassroots team by her side.
