I am proud to announce I've filed HB707, a bill that will empower home chefs and bring the word's cuisine to your doorstep.

Since the fall of the Afghan government, approximately 80,000 refugees have been resettled to America. They are folding into our economy, filling badly needed jobs, paying rent, and shopping for the new lives they are building. They are cooking and, hopefully soon, delivering their delicious dishes to you on demand.

In fact, I want to empower ALL home chef's to be able to legally cook at home and grow their small business.

Livy O's Catering, who I love and who catered my wedding last year, is a local gem and they started in the back of Lennise's car. Surely, we can do better for future generations of chefs.

The cool Afghan connection is that Shef.com, a company that facilitates home cooked meals being sold and delivered to neighbors across the nation (just not here because my law hasn't passed yet), is providing all resettled Afghans $3,500 for cooking materials and to get their small businesses up and running.

Many of these folks were our translators, worked with us at remote bases, and had our backs. Now, it's on us to love our new neighbors and support them in their successful resettlements to America. This is, after all, what America is all about.

You can learn more about the bill here. Simply, the bill empowers home cooks to sell their meals while ensuring food safety standards are maintained.

This is a win for local small businesses, a win for our allies and friends, and a HUGE WIN for hungry people like myself who just want a home cooked meal from time to time (when I'm feeling lazy). This truly will bring the world's cuisine to your doorstep.
