"There is hope because the women of the rainforest are rising up and fighting these injustices. We will protect our rainforest. We are calling upon world leaders to help defend our people and our lands."
– Nemo Guiquita
Since 1996, Amazon Watch has organized effective resistance to the global drivers of Amazon destruction. In honor of 25 years in action with Indigenous peoples of Amazonía, generous donors are matching all gifts for the rest of the year, up to $250,000! Will you make a special year-end donation today?
Amazon Watch and Stand.earth made headlines last week by releasing a report exposing California's ties to Amazon destruction and oil extraction. Here's the crude reality: half of the oil extracted from the Amazon rainforest goes to California, with companies like Costco, PepsiCo, and Amazon.com topping the list of large corporate consumers.
With your support today, we will resist these drivers of deforestation and pollution and advance our proposed solutions to this crisis. Together, we'll end California's consumption of Amazon crude.
The international response to this report shows us that our growing movement is being heard. Your donation today ensures that we can continue this work in partnership with our Indigenous allies in the months to come.
Thank you for walking this path with us!
For the Amazon,
