John, a direct challenge to Roe v. Wade was heard by the Supreme Court last week.
There is a very real chance that this court -- which is dominated by hard-right conservatives after Donald Trump and Mitch McConnell rammed through judges over the voices of the American people -- will overturn Roe in a few months.
I joined my fellow House Democrats in September to pass the Women's Health Protection Act, which would protect Roe from a right-wing court's attacks. But this bill has gone nowhere since, because Senate Republicans can block legislation with just 41 votes using the filibuster.
We need to act fast to protect a woman's right to choose, and the first step is to repeal the filibuster. Please add your name to call for an end to this undemocratic tactic so that we can pass urgently-needed legislation →
If Roe v. Wade is overturned by the Supreme Court, it will be easier in many states for someone to buy a gun than it will be for a woman to access reproductive care.
That's not a reality I plan to accept, and stopping it from happening matters far more than maintaining an outdated Senate procedure.
I refuse to let minority rule stand in the way of women's health, and I hope you will stand with me in demanding that the Senate repeal the filibuster.
Thank you,
Marie
