Today, I’m taking our message for Court expansion directly to the White House.

I’m not going to sugarcoat it, John: I’m fed up.
I’ve had enough with far-right Republicans packing the courts and attempting to destroy the very fabric of our democracy. And as the son of Mexican immigrants and a (mostly) proud Texan, I’ve seen and experienced firsthand how Mitch McConnell and his cronies have manipulated the Supreme Court to hurt marginalized communities and strip us of our constitutional protections.
That’s why I joined Take Back the Court. And that’s why this week, I traveled from Texas to Washington DC and joined with other advocates for Court expansion today at the White House. It’s time for bold direct action to tell Joe Biden: the only proportional and rational way to restore our democracy is to expand the Supreme Court.

We all know what’s at stake. In just the last few months, the conservative extremists on the Supreme Court have further gutted the Voting Rights Act, resurrected racist Trump-era immigration policies, blocked the COVID-19 eviction moratorium, and are now expected to overturn Roe v Wade.
The threats to our rights and protections have never been more at risk. But while folks like you and me are terrified about what could happen next, the Biden White House has responded by forming a shell of a "Presidential Commission" — and the only thing it’s done in the last eight months is write a research paper.
It’s INCREDIBLY disappointing to see, and it’s exactly why we’re taking our message for Court expansion to protest directly in front of the White House.
Every single thing we’re fighting for: abortion access, climate action, voting rights, immigration reform, and more is on the line. It’s time that politicians in DC wake up and get on board with Court expansion because it is our only hope for letting democracy live another day.
