We’re hiring an Urban Native Vote Organizer! Hi John,
As you know, Wisconsin Native Vote is celebrating its 10 year anniversary. Our program continues to grow and now we’re hiring an Urban Native Vote Organizer to join our team!
The Urban Native Vote Organizer will build a team of volunteers and carry out activities associated with nonpartisan voter education and voter engagement. Our Native Vote organizers have hosted art and voter registration events, painted community murals, tabled at powwows, and organized community gatherings. We’re excited to bring this work to the urban Native communities in Wisconsin.
The Urban Native Vote Organizer will work primarily with urban Native communities in Milwaukee and to a limited degree in Madison. The Urban Native Vote Organizer will work with the Ho-Chunk, Oneida, Potawatomi and other tribes when appropriate. The position can be full time or part time and is temporary through November 2022.
Native Vote’s work has led to increased voter turnout in every tribal community we’ve worked in, from six percent in Bad River to a whopping 28 percent in Red Cliff. We plan to continue that momentum in 2022.
By bringing on an Urban Native Vote Organizer, we will build on the success of the Native Vote program and continue to make sure that the voices of Indigenous people in Wisconsin have a meaningful place in tribal and state politics.
Miigwech (thank you) for your help, Dee Sweet Native Vote Manager Wisconsin Conservation Voices P.S. If you don’t have a lot of time, you can simply forward this email to people you think might be a good fit for this role or who know someone who may be interested. Thanks for your help.
