John,

It’s been 80 years since the Japanese surprise attack on Pearl Harbor that killed over 2,000 Americans. The bombing caused massive damage to the U.S. Pacific Fleet and led to America’s entrance in World War II.

It was a day of tragedy, but something extraordinary happened in the aftermath.

America united. People came together to fight back. And in the following years, our servicemen and women fought valiantly to liberate millions from the tyranny of Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany.

Today, we honor all those who lost their lives that fateful day 80 years ago, and we reflect on what unites us as Americans.
