John -

President Biden has three more seats on the Federal Reserve Board to fill
– and it's imperative that he nominates leaders who will take the climate
crisis seriously and rein in the Big Banks that are bankrolling climate
disasters.

Having strong leadership in these other key positions could help steer the
Fed toward regulating the Big Banks and cutting off the flow of funds to
fossil fuels – regardless of whether Jerome Powell gets confirmed by the
Senate in January.

These nominations could happen any day, so we want to send a strong
message to the Biden Administration now. That’s why we’re asking:

sign our petition to tell President Biden: We need more leaders at the
Federal Reserve who take the climate crisis seriously.

We were extremely disappointed that Biden chose to renominate Jerome
Powell as the Fed Chair last month. During his tenure, Powell has refused
to protect our economy from a potential financial crash driven by the
climate crisis.

We will be pushing the Senate to deny Powell’s nomination at the
confirmation hearing early next year – but in the meantime, these other
vacancies provide a major opportunity to build a leadership team that will
shift the Fed’s focus from Wall Street to Main Street.

Specifically, we are calling on Biden to nominate Lisa D. Cook for a
vacant Board of Governor seat and Sarah Bloom Raskin to be Vice Chair for
Supervision.

Here’s a bit more about them:

* Sarah Bloom Raskin has unparalleled experience in public policy and
financial regulation, most recently as the first female Deputy
Secretary of the U.S. Treasury Department in the Obama administration.

* Lisa Cook is a distinguished labor market economist with unmatched
expertise on racial disparities. She was a member of President Obama’s
Council of Economic Advisers. Cook would also be the first Black woman
ever to be appointed to the Federal Reserve Board.

Their voices and leadership inside the Federal Reserve would go a long way
towards shifting the culture and protecting our entire economy from
climate risks.

[ [link removed] ]Please add your name today to help us push Biden to fill the rest of
the Federal Reserve board with diverse, pro-climate leaders who will take
on the Big Banks to fight the climate crisis.

Thank you for doing your part.
