Dear John,
I know these images are shocking. But these are just a few examples of the vile messages spread by the Goyim Defense League (GDL), a loose network of antisemites and white supremacists who are motivated and united by their hatred of Jews. This extremist group stages hate-filled events in communities to spread their antisemitic beliefs and make money in the process.
Hate like this is happening across the country every day. We must respond in real time to get real results — and with your support, we do.
You helped ADL’s Center on Extremism track the Goyim Defense League on their recent “Name the Nose” tour across Texas so we could work with our Jewish security partners to warn and prepare Jewish communities and law enforcement. But there is so much more to be done.
Your gift of $50, $75, $100 or more today will help ADL continue to fund critical programs like the Center on Extremism. And, thanks to a generous matching gift challenge, your gift will DOUBLE today.
As the GDL tours the country spreading hate, they display antisemitic images including burning swastikas. They harass people outside synagogues and Chabad houses. They drop banners from highway overpasses with slogans like “Honk if You Know the Jews did 9/11.” On Halloween, they dressed as Orthodox Jewish men and handed out candy to children while “apologizing” for things like 9/11 and COVID-19.
We don’t often think about hate groups “fundraising.” But that is exactly why the GDL stages these events. They want the local community to come out and confront them so they can gain media attention, spread their videos online, and make money from their video platform and online merchandise. It’s truly horrific.
But with the help of supporters like you, we were able to use their own online presence against these extremists. We tracked them in real time to prepare those they were coming to attack and we advised the Jewish community on how to avoid playing into the Goyim Defense League’s game.
During their October tour in Texas — thanks to supporters like you — we were able to help keep the Jewish community safe. We even played a part in the arrest of one of the extremists!
Every Goyim Defense League “tour” is growing larger and more extreme. And this is just one of the many extremist groups ADL monitors, tracks and disrupts.
Please, we need your support today to continue to Fight Hate For Good — in real time, with real results.
