We're now well into December – the season of giving! ... or is it?
Every year, the Fraser Institute reports on the generosity of Canadians. This year's Generosity Index finds that the number of Canadians donating to charity is at the lowest point in the past 20 years.
And the total amount donated to registered charities by Canadians in 2019 — just 0.53% of their income — is the second lowest amount since at least 2000.
Manitoba had the highest percentage of tax filers that donated to charity, while Newfoundland & Labrador had the lowest.
