As 2021 comes to a close, I hope you will join us in celebrating New American wins in office. In November, we shared that cohorts of NAL alum will join the city councils across the country, enabling them to set the progressive immigrant agenda.

The face of leadership has changed so much since we debuted our groundbreaking campaign playbook over a decade ago. Thank you for firmly believing in our vision of inclusive democracy.

Since our last email, we learned that two NAL alumni, Deqa Dhalac and Pious Ali, have become the Mayor and Vice Mayor Pro Tem of South Portland and Portland, Maine, respectively! This is a huge win for immigrant power in a state that is more than 90% white. NAL knows that long-term investment in New American leadership pays dividends in changing the face of political leadership at the local, state, and federal levels.

And this is just the tip of the iceberg! NAL trained almost 200 individuals this year to ensure a record number of New Americans run for office. More victories are in the works: Will you make a $100, $75, $50, or $25 end-of-year donation to help make this a reality?
