Hey, everyone!
So much has been going on with True Texas Project that I wanted to share it with all of our friends around the state. We are really blowing and going around here!
First, check out pics from our entry in the Christmas parade in Grapevine, the Christmas Capital of Texas! Tens of thousands of folks attend from all over the state -- and they all cheered fanatically as we walked by! The theme was "Storybook Holiday" so we carried a sign that read "Once upon a time, in a land that was free..." This was followed by the fife and drum and the founding fathers! We also had Washington's flag "An Appeal To Heaven" as well as the Gadsden flag and the old US flag. Then we had a banner representing every location of True Texas Project... and yes, a banner reading, "Let's Go Brandon." We knew we might get some flack for that, but it was the quickest way to show those watching the parade exactly what our group is. And it worked because folks were whooping and hollering for us, kids were pointing and shouting "It's George Washington!", and people were even taking pictures of our web address! Total success!
Besides having fun in the parade, later that night we played a great game of softball. Check out how it ended!
In fact, we are about to have a GREAT time at our Christmas party! Guys, we've got the #1 dueling pianists in the world performing for us! Have you ever been to a dueling pianos event? They are so fun and entertaining! You'll be in stitches. Can you stump them with a song they don't know? I doubt it, so consider that a challenge! Oh, and how much will someone tip the pianist to play their favorite song... and how much will someone else tip to make it stop??? LOL One thing is for sure... A good time WILL be had by all with these funny entertainers! Tickets are only $35 to cover costs of the venue and the hors d'oeuvres. Plus the goal is to raise a small amount - just $1000 -- to offer a high school scholarship. Did you know that if we give away a scholarship, not only are we encouraging students to stand strong for conservative principles within the public schools, but we also get a chance to have our organization recognized in front of all the parents at baccalaureate! Win-win! Please join us! Tickets are available by clicking here.
And last, we have some patriots to recognize! What's really cool is that at the Texas Scorecard gala on Saturday, True Texas Project leaders nominated 10 award recipients who won -- and we had 2 of our co-directors win a Conservative Leader Award too! Congratulations to Ammon Blair in the Rio Grande Valley and to Hilary Rabeler in Tarrant! Unfortunately neither ended up able to attend -- can you believe the rotten luck??? But all is well that ends well. They will be recognized at the January meetings where they will receive their engraved sabers, so be sure to go to those events and support them!
Before I close I do want to share with you the award I won as well. It was truly the honor of a lifetime, and I only got it because of the great team we have pulling together at True Texas Project. I may be the one front and center, but this is definitely a group effort and you guys make me look great! So this was for all of us! Texas Scorecard blew me away by announcing me as the recipient of this year's Torch of Freedom Award. I was so surprised!
And yes, I cried. It was so humbling. The award literally means nothing without sharing it with you so thank you for the being the best people on the planet to hang with and stand with side by side.
Please know that Fran and I are working so hard every single day doing dozens and dozens of interviews of candidates so that we can be prepared for the rapidly-approaching Primary Elections! We will have our decisions made in the New Year and will share them with you. We encourage you to start doing your interviews as well. It feels so good to have personally spoken to every person you vote for!
Just to fill you in... we are working on lots of other things as well...
putting together a training schedule for classes on election workers, citizen advocates, campaigns, and more
developing our new leadership teams around the state
marketing and advertising (still trying to get permissions from Facebook to advertise again!)
annual budget meetings with donors
planning Texas Tough, our annual event celebrating Texas's victory in San Jacinto! Last year we had fireworks... this year my goal is to shoot off the Twin Sisters... the pair of cannons that secured our win!
tons and tons of bookings for great speakers all over the state
suing the Secretary of State for Prop 2
gubernatorial forum coming up Jan 10 and lt governor forum in Feb, plus statewide candidates visiting multiple locations throughout Jan and Feb
always, always recruiting new volunteers -- how are YOU helping??? We can put you to work if you just ask!
Remember, our website is always up to date, and don't forget to always spread the word! We rely on word of mouth!
Merry Christmas, patriots! Julie McCarty Volunteer CEO
PS. I almost forgot! We put together a fun little commercial for the gala. Watch it here -- and share it!
