Thank you for joining us yesterday at MPAC’s 21st Annual Convention: The Story of US.

We explored the courage and determination of the earliest Muslim immigrants through the many strides we have made as a community.  We were grateful to hear from members of Congress, leaders in Hollywood, partners from our community, and promising young leaders. We are especially grateful for the honor to host our keynote speaker, Jacob Blake Sr., whose son’s tragedy in 2020 pushed him to stand up for justice for all Americans. His inspiring words were an important reminder to us all.

“[I understand] that I was chosen by Allah to be what I am today, fighting for justice for everyone in the United States of America in a system that we were promised justice… Islam is built on love, honor, respect, and togetherness, so let’s work together, let’s get some of these laws changed in Washington, D.C.” – Jacob Blake, Sr.

With the intrepid vision and generous donations of MPAC supporters like you, we exceeded our goal of $400,000 last night. As we are reminded in the message of the Mustard Seed program, a small act of compassion can transform the world.  We are truly grateful for your compassion in support of our multigenerational mission.

We are proud of our staff, our community, and our participants for making last night such a resounding success. In the words of our friend and mentor, the late Dr. Maher Hathout, “Home is not where your grandparents are buried, but where your grandchildren will be raised”. So let’s write the next chapter, together.

If you missed last night’s event, you can watch the full video at mpac.org/storyofus. Your support makes it possible for us to tell our own story, through acts of compassion that can transform the world.

P.S. In an effort to amplify authentic community narratives, we recognize that the news cycle and congressional action are at risk of moving past the crisis in Afghanistan. This week, we are hosting a virtual summit in partnership with the Afghan American Foundation, that comprises sessions with experts covering a range of topics and educates stakeholders on the humanitarian crisis in Afghanistan. If you missed the first installment in this summit from earlier today, you can catch it here. We hope to see you there. Register here
