We’ve seen it with our own eyes: Children have been torn away from their families and placed in deteriorating facilities at our southern border with inadequate access to food and basic hygiene.

It doesn’t matter what their citizenship is.

They are children. They are human beings.

This policy was implemented by Donald Trump and his Administration and it can be undone by them. Stand with me and demand an end to the child-separation policy at our border.

So what does it mean when a Trump Administration official tells me they’re doing their “level best” at the border?

This is not our best. We are one of the strongest and most powerful countries in the world. We are so much better than this.

History will look back and judge what we did today -- or what we did not do.

I want generations yet unborn to learn that we saw these cruel and unjust policies unfolding at our southern border and we took action.
