Dear John,
On December 9 and 10, President Biden will host world leaders at a Summit for Democracy, a virtual event to address the rising threat to democracy. Countries will pledge to take tangible steps to bolster their own institutions and reconvene next year to review progress. We are proud to share that Emgage has been invited to partake in this summit as a member of the civil society working groups on countering authoritarianism and human rights.

Violations of basic human rights, rampant corruption, and the ascendancy of authoritarian leaders and movements are posing the biggest threat to democratic values and norms since the end of WWII.
The United States has a responsibility to lead in a meaningful way in support of democratic norms and institutions. The lack of freedoms and good governance is a major contributor to global instability and this summit represents a much needed renewal of commitments to the ideals of democratic governance and respect for human rights that have been under assault.
