John,
Over the last year, you’ve gotten to know Junaid and why he’s running for Congress. In case you missed it, Junaid is a small business owner, community advocate, and longtime Illinoisian who’s tired of corporations and their politicians in Washington getting rich while everyday people suffer.
Now, we want to introduce you to our corporate-owned, centrist opponent Raja Krishnamoorthi.
Here’s what you need to know about Raja:
- In just four years in Congress, Raja’s taken almost $2 million from corporations and special interests. That includes $350,000 from private healthcare companies and Big Pharma, and almost $400,000 from the financial sector, insurance companies, and real estate interests.
- Every year in Congress, Raja fights against popular legislation like universal healthcare and cancelling student debt. Instead, he chooses to work with right-wing GOP leaders on “college outcomes” rather than with progressive members of his own party on transformative action that actually addresses the problems we’re facing.
- Raja is constantly missing in action. It’s an open secret in Illinois that he’s stockpiling his cash for an Illinois Senate seat, leaving the people of Illinois’ Eighth as an afterthought to his career ambitions.
And that’s just the start, John. Raja clearly isn’t willing to fight for the people of our district, but Junaid is. In the past decade, Junaid has marched for Medicare for All and protested to shut down ICE facilities across the state. Now, he’s taking that fighting spirit to Congress.
People are fired up about our race and we've already built some serious momentum. Right now, our 100% grassroots campaign is one of the top-funded progressive campaigns in the entire country. We’re not slowing down anytime soon.
Will you contribute $5 to help us replace Raja in Congress with a progressive fighter like Junaid?

Our future is up to us. Let’s take power away from corporations and their politicians and put it back where it belongs — in the hands of the people.
In Solidarity,
Junaid for Congress
Junaid is a father, husband, community organizer, and longtime Illinoisan running a 100% grassroots campaign to represent Illinois’ 8th District in Congress. He’s fighting to put power back in our hands, end corporate influence in Washington, and pass bold solutions like Medicare for All, a Green New Deal, and tuition-free public college.
