A new report by RepresentUs revealed the top reasons why folks didn’t vote -- and shared an estimate that it would be easier for more than six million more voters to cast their ballot if Congress passed the Freedom to Vote Act.

Despite being registered to vote, millions of voters reported 12 reasons why they didn’t make it to the polls. Based on those responses, it’s estimated that more than six million voters would have increased access to the ballot box if Congress passed the Freedom to Vote Act.

Barriers such as conflicting schedules and inconvenient polling places would be addressed if we made voting easier with ballot drop boxes and vote-by-mail alternatives.

The midterm elections are around the corner, and Republicans only need to flip five seats to gain a majority in the U.S. House. We know they’re manipulating maps and suppressing the vote. That’s why we must pass the Freedom to Vote Act to make our elections and districts fair.

As A.G. Holder has said: “There is still time to stop this conservative backlash to an electorate that has already soundly rejected their politics, but we could use your help to fight back.”
