Send a message to stop the biggest crude oil export project!

At this very moment, the notorious oil corporations Enterprise and Enbridge are racing to build the largest-ever crude oil export facility on the Gulf of Mexico.
Enbridge is the same company behind the disastrous Line 3 and Line 5 pipelines, and it has a horrendous safety record. This new project would include two pipelines and a new offshore oil platform — if approved, it would lock the region into more fossil fuel pollution for decades. We have until Monday, December 13th to submit public comments and demand that the Biden administration deny this project's permits.
The Sea Port Oil Terminal (SPOT) could be the first Gulf Coast offshore oil terminal able to load giant supertankers — at the rate of 85,000 barrels an hour, or 2 million barrels a day. This project would also include a pipeline running 60 miles onshore and then continuing another 30 miles underwater to an export terminal. If approved, SPOT would have negative impacts to the communities in Texas and along the Gulf Coast, and it will further fuel the climate crisis by locking in decades of oil drilling and burning.
Given the horrific safety record of Enbridge, this could be an environmental disaster far worse than the BP or Exxon Valdez oil spills, just waiting to happen.
We can’t allow this project to go forward. Due to the amazing organizing efforts of local residents and allied organizations, we have an opportunity to submit public comments to the US Maritime Administration and US Coast Guard.
Even if you don’t live in Texas, your comment is still important.This project requires federal permits which need to be granted by the Biden administration. That means that everyone, no matter where you live, can submit a comment and oppose this dangerous project.
Enterprise and Enbridge want to build this export facility to ship oil from Texas to international markets where they can get a higher price. But while Big Oil rakes in record profits, communities along the gulf would be left to deal with the consequences: oil spills, water and air pollution, and the worsening floods and storms fueled by climate change.
Thanks to community organizing efforts, SPOT has already been delayed for two years. With a new president and a shift in national policy, we have a chance to defeat this project once and for all.
