Connecticut Republicans Honor A Great American Public Servant Robert Dole as he is laid to rest ([link removed]) .


It is with deep sadness that we learned yesterday that Robert J. Dole passed away after dedicating his entire life to his country.


He had a reputation that, for any other politician, would be a true contradiction. Senator Dole was a dedicated conservative stalwart yet, his persona and humor allowed him to build consensus and be an effective member of the United States Senate whether he was leading the majority or minority party.


It has been an honor to have had Bob Dole representing, not only the Republican Party, but more importantly America. He is among the last of the "greatest generation", who not only fought on the battlefields, but also in the halls of our government, for the values that have made America the envy of the world. He was a beacon of light, for so many, during some of the most turbulent times in our history and, while fighting those battles, he did so with dignity and a belief in our nation and our values. He always understood that no matter where we had been, we were always on a path to a better America.


Connecticut Republicans and, more importantly, Americans, are incredibly blessed to have had such a role model and leader. America could use more Bob Doles right now.


Bob Dole, through his loyalty, manner, and drive, will inspire, I hope not only Republicans in Connecticut, but all of us, to stand up and to serve our state and country in the same way for many, many years to come.


Robyn and I, and the entire Connecticut Republican family, send our condolences and thoughts to the Dole family during this time.
