Foundation Staff Additions
We're pleased to report that the Foundation's staff is continuing to
grow, and in the past month we've added two highly-qualified
professionals to our complement of dedicated representatives. Please
welcome these new staff members as they begin their work with us in
supporting and educating America's Seniors.
Judy Korn - Social Security Advisor
Judy is a career professional with an extensive background in the
non-profit sector and in private industry, with multiple
certifications in counseling-related areas associated with public
service. As a former business owner and controller for a substantial
business enterprise, and with her considerable experience in
ministering to the needs of individuals and families in crisis, she
brings with her analytical, problem-solving, and active listening
skills so critical to our Social Security Advisory Service. She is
Founder and President of LIFESTEPS Support, Inc. in Leesburg, Florida,
where she manages a staff of volunteers dedicated to helping women
recover from life-related problems.
In addition to being state-licensed as a Certified Recovery Peer
Specialist, Judy holds several certifications in public-service areas
and is a Florida state licensed Notary Public. She holds an Associate
Degree from Monroe Community College in Rochester, NY.
Jeanne Zimmerman - Executive Assistant
Jeanne brings with her a wealth of experience in management support
and administrative operations. Her years of dealing with the general
public as a customer service professional in a variety of settings
equips her well to serve our senior constituency. Her familiarity with
public licensing via her 2-15 Florida Health & Life Agent License and
her Florida 4-40 Customer Representative licensing equip her well for
interacting with the partners we deal with in our Foundation's
day-to-day service to the community. Jeanne studied Business and
Marketing at University of South Florida, is a Florida state licensed
Notary Public and a resident of Leesburg, Florida.
"Teamwork is the ability to work together toward a common vision. The
ability to direct individual accomplishments toward organizational
objectives. It is the fuel that allows common people to attain
uncommon results."

Veterans Benefits - Recapping a Great Seminar
A few weeks ago, our monthly seminar series once again embraced the
subject of Veterans Benefits, working in partnership with VITAS
Healthcare to present an informative seminar covering the myriad
benefits available to the Veteran Community. VITAS Veterans Liaison
Benedetto "Ben" Mongiovi addressed key subject areas, including
eligibility criteria; VA medical priority groups; disability
compensation, pension, and survivor compensation; VA burial benefits;
contacting VA medical facilities; and much more.

The session began with a brief overview of AMAC and the AMAC
Foundation, focusing on the organization's support of the Veteran
Community. The introduction covered AMAC's work on its "Veterans 2021
Project," including a quick walk-through of the AMAC Foundation's
clearinghouse of programs

information sources, and resources available to fill specific needs
and interests of the Veteran community. The clearinghouse is housed
and maintained in databases carried on the Foundation's primary
website, and is available on-demand for search by interested parties.

from late last year.)
In introducing Benedetto (Ben) Mongiovi, AMAC Foundation Executive
Director Gerry Hafer noted that having served in a number of military
situations, including service in Iraq, Kuwait, and Turkey certainly
qualifies him as an expert resource on Veterans Benefits, as does his
current service as VITAS Healthcare's Veterans Liaison for the
tri-county area. Hafer also noted that Ben is widely recognized as a
successful businessman, entertainer, college faculty member, and
substance abuse counselor, with a doctorate from Liberty University.

For those readers unfamiliar with this program, its objective is to
help ensure that survivors are prepared to deal with the aftermath of
a loved one's death, guiding attendees through the creation of a
"Survivor Notebook" to help survivors cope after the death of a spouse
or key family member. Reservations for these sessions are limited due
to physical space limitations and the need for intense interaction
with presenters, and partial attendance at the three sessions is
discouraged.
While we normally do not schedule seminars for the month of December
(everybody's busy and usually preoccupied with the Holiday Season),
this year we've been presented with the opportunity to hold a webinar
on the subject of "Coping with loss during the holidays." As many of
you know, despite the liveliness and general cheerfulness of the
Christmas Season, a sizeable segment of our population is faced with
depression during what is often referred to as "a most wonderful time
of the year." On December 15, VITAS Healthcare Bereavement Manager
Jessica McClure will join us on a webinar focusing on understanding
how memories of loved ones lost can lead to heightened depression
during this season. Her remarks will offer was to deal with the
melancholy and overcoming the sadness. Check the website listing for
