Dear John,

You've earned our profound gratitude. Despite many obstacles and restrictions, CitizenGO members like you fueled this year's powerful actions and victories for life, family, faith, and freedom.

In 2021, we brought together millions of people from all walks of life all over the world to make a difference.

For the past 12 months, the Radical Left and their allies have done so much in order to try to defeat us, to undermine our values, destabilize our families and dehumanize the most vulnerable: The unborn, the sick, the old.

And they tried—desperately—to silence us, to ridicule us, to intimidate our colleagues and make our voices disappear.

But every step of the way, you and I fought back. We rose up. We signed petitions. We held rallies. We protested. And (many times) we won.

As the old saying goes: They tried to bury us. They didn't know we were seeds.

Our efforts—your efforts—helped deliver many remarkable victories.

And now that the year is coming to a close, I think it's important that we also take the time to appreciate the difference that we're making together.

United States -- We are the voice for the hundreds of thousands who stood up to the big abortion industry. Our petitions to Congress are not ignored as we make sure that not one cent of taxpayer dollars are funneled to abortions in the United States and around the world. We raised the voice of more than 520,000 people that signed a petition asking the company to pull offensive depictions of Jesus from "Paradise PD." We made sure they heard our voice loud and clear and delivered the signatures to their headquarters so they couldn't miss it. We also campaigned for Owen Stevens, a student at SUNY who was suspended for stating something so obvious that a man is a man and can never be a woman! We petitioned demanding to lift his suspension, and we were successful!

Africa -- Despite a lot of pressure from well-organized pro-abortion groups who have been funding abortion and sexualization campaigns across Africa, we managed to defeat abortion bills planted in Kenya, Malawi and Namibia. We also defeated a move by the atheists in Kenya to scrap religious freedom in the country.

Argentina -- We have stopped the Senate from giving constitutional status to the international convention called "Belém Do Pará,” which aimed to pressure governments to approve abortion and gender ideology in Latin America. We also stopped the extraordinary "Superpowers" that the radical leftist President Fernández pretended to obtain with the excuse of managing the COVID-19 pandemic.

Dominican Republic -- The abortion bill was rejected by 115 of the 190 MP. CitizenGO was campaigning there and participated in a rally. Finally, we reach our goal: to keep Dominican laws that protect human life.

El Salvador -- We fought against abortion and LGBT ideology being introduced in the national Constitution and finally the president Nayib Bukele announced that all this ideological content will be removed.

European Union -- In May, the EU had the intention of calling abortion a 'human right' and to approve the so-called Matic Report, a document that represents one of the most violent attacks on the life of the unborn in the European Union's history. With your help, we managed to organize and carry our message all the way to Brussels, where we delivered more than 415.000 signatures against the Matic Report.

Finland -- We delivered more than 200,000 signatures to the Finnish General Prosecutor in support of MP Päivi Räsänen, who is facing prosecution for sharing a Bible verse on Twitter defending the Christian marriage.

France -- Petitions, phone calls to the Presidential Palace and the Senate, social media campaigns - we tried it all and it finally helped to deliver remarkable victories: The Senate rejected abortion up to birth for psycho-social reasons (like stress). The National Assembly rejected a radical euthanasia bill, and we stopped the city of Strasbourg‘s subvention of 2.5 million euros to build the largest Mosque in Europe!

Germany -- As Easter was approaching, the government in Germany tried to impose invasive and unfair restrictions on celebrations on the most important feast of the Christian year. Thanks to our petition, the restrictions on Easter worship were lifted! We also managed to stop the dangerous Trans-law and “special children's rights in the German constitution that would weaken the parents’ freedom of education.

Honduras -- In January, we contributed to obtain a constitutional reform that protects the life of the unborn from conception.

Hungary -- We helped to shield the children from gender ideology by collecting 90,000 signatures against the first LGBT children fairy-tale book and by putting pressure on the Government to protect children from LGBT propaganda. We also contributed to the drafting of the Child Protection Law and have prevented an LGBT movie from being presented at the Christian Ars Sacra festival.

Italy -- Thanks to the pressure made by CitizenGO members, we achieved a significant victory in Italy: The Italian Senate repealed a bill that would have introduced “hate crime” for those disagreeing with LGBT dogma and a national LGBT day to be celebrated every year in schools. We defended the symbols of the faith, in particular the statue of the Virgin Mary in the centre of Piazza Sempione in Rome, after shameless blasphemous attacks by leftist social centres supported by the local administration who wanted to move it against the wishes of the residents. We intervened with other associations, collected more than 27,000 signatures, mobilised citizens in the streets, and in the end we won!

Mexico -- While Mexican people suffered a tragedy of many lost lives due to the pandemic, Congress of the State of Quintana Roo initiated the bill that would allow abortion up to birth. Despite the violence deployed by feminist groups who invaded and occupied the Parliament, we wasted no time to stand firm in protecting the life of unborn babies, and we won! We also launched a successful Twitter campaign to bury the bill that attempted to censor priests and pastors to preach about LGBT issues.

Netherlands -- We delivered a petition to the right-wing party FvD (“Forum for Democracy”), pressuring them to vote against abolishing the current mandatory waiting period before choosing an abortion. Although the party has not usually voted in a pro-life way thus far, we got a firm promise that they would vote right this time.

Northern Ireland -- We put pressure on the Northern Ireland Assembly to support a bill designed to curb the extreme abortion laws imposed upon the province by the United Kingdom which allowed for babies with disabilities such as Downs Syndrome, cleft lip and club foot to be aborted right up until birth. The bill was passed and now has gone through the Committee Stage, so disabled babies in Northern Ireland are a step closer to safety.

Pakistan -- In 2014, a Pakistani couple Shagufta Kausar and Shafqat Emmanuel, were sentenced to death by hanging on false blasphemy charges. We launched an international petition asking for their immediate release, and we were thrilled that the Lahore High Court had overturned the death sentence this year. The couple is in an asylum in Europe now.

Poland -- 2021 was born into the landmark pro-life victory that CitizenGO worked on almost from the very beginning of our existence: Eugenic abortions were banned in Poland! Our campaigners in Warsaw organized several social campaigns to mobilize the public to take the side of the life of every human being, regardless of what stage of development they are at and what genetic defects or congenital diseases they are burdened with. Every life is precious!

Russia -- Our colleagues successfully delayed and hopefully stopped including the vaccination for COVID-19 into the Russian National Vaccination Calendar -- even after the bill passed its first reading in the Parliament -- which would otherwise lead to forcing vaccination on a large part of the Russian population. Also, after another campaign, a bill banning foreign surrogacy -- that homosexuals actively used (e.g., from China) to “order” children for themselves in Russia -- was introduced in the Parliament.

Slovakia -- We successfully protected religious freedom in Slovakia when the long-lasting petition with the request for the mandate of Special Envoy for religious freedom was finally granted. Our petition asking for a declaration by the Slovak parliament against the pro-abortion and pro-LGBT Matić Report imposed by the European Union and confirmation of the sovereignty of Slovakia in matters where the EU has no competence was successful, as well.

Spain -- This year, we played a vital role in two essential elections: in Madrid and Catalonia. We helped to secure that our values are represented in these places better than ever before. Unfortunately, the social-communist government of Spain approved euthanasia, but we have managed to get the main opposition party to appeal it as unconstitutional. And although, on the surface, a minor victory, we also achieved a huge win for education in Spain: A school teacher was fired for saying that there are only two sexes: male and female. But the pressure exerted by citizens from CitizenGO got him reinstated!

United Kingdom -- Our petition to stop an extreme assisted suicide bill becoming law increased the pressure on Boris Johnson and he announced his opposition to the legalization of euthanasia.

United Nations -- We mobilized support for the Holy See to be enjoined in the World Health Organization’s board as a permanent representative. Despite many pushbacks from the radical leftists who consider the Holy See a threat, we emerged victoriously. We also actively participated in the Commissions on Status of Women and Population and Development in New York, albeit COVID-19 restrictions, where we lobbied and pushed for pro-life and pro-family outcomes. Our campaigners also participated in the Human Rights Commission in Geneva, where we represented your voice on various issues facing human rights issues.

Venezuela -- In 2018, CitizenGO launched an international campaign with more than 130,000 signatures asking the international community to stop looking the other way and serve justice for the victims of the Venezuelan communist dictatorship and their families. Finally, the International Penal Court announced that it would investigate the Maduro regime. It was about time. Venezuela deserves Truth, Justice and Reparation.

All these successful campaigns and many more - we had more than 50 victories for life, family and liberty this year - were possible only thanks to the strong support of engaged citizens like you and millions of our members from more than 50 countries.

We can all be rightfully proud of what we have achieved together.

But our work is far from finished. We still have an ambitious agenda for the year ahead.

To list just a few of the important projects we are either planning to or currently working on:

  • Oppose and defund the radical pro-abortion and LGBT agendas at the powerful United Nations and World Health Organization;
  • Uphold our ongoing fight to end gender ideology indoctrination at Disney and Lego companies;
  • Stop the censorship of Christians, pro-Lifers, and the pro-Liberty voices on Social Media and other online platforms;
  • Fight back against filthy, blasphemous, and transgender propaganda on popular streaming services like Netflix; and
  • Continue to impact elections and legislation on behalf of life, family, and liberty.

We will do this no matter how powerful the forces are against us.

It's hard work. But that's the work we're accomplishing -- together.

Thank you for everything you helped accomplish in 2021 to make this world a better place. You’re making a real difference.

Gregory Mertz and the entire CitizenGO Team

P. S. A few days ago, I asked you to complete a survey that will help us determine our priorities in 2022. Knowing your opinion will help us plan and budget accordingly for the coming year. If you haven’t done it yet, please answer the survey to guide our 2022 plans and activities.
