Friend,

Abortion rights are essential. And voters strongly support reproductive
rights and oppose government restrictions on abortion.(1)

But the Washington Post just reported that, after the arguments of the
Trump-majority Court yesterday, the Supreme Court is on the verge of
gutting Roe v. Wade.(2)

Once Roe falls, 22 states have laws that will immediately outlaw abortion
in some form, leaving nearly half the country without reproductive
rights.(3)

The Senate has in its hands the Women’s Health Protection Act (WHPA),
which would legalize abortion in all 50 states, no matter what Kavanaugh
and the extremist Supreme Court majority does. But Minority Leader Mitch
McConnell is holding up the WHPA with the filibuster.

the filibuster so we can protect reproductive rights everywhere?

The conservative majority on the Supreme Court is making it clear: If the
reproductive rights of millions of Americans are to be preserved, Congress
must pass a law to protect them at the federal level. The WHPA would do
just that, preventing states from passing Draconian laws, such as Texas's
SB 8, which not only outlaws abortion, but turns citizens into bounty
hunters to stop abortions from happening.

But the filibuster is standing in the way. McConnell has weaponized the
filibuster to stop the WHPA -- which Americans overwhelmingly support --
from even coming to a vote.(4) The WHPA joins H.R. 1, the Freedom to Vote
Act, and dozens of other laws that are languishing in the Senate without a
vote because of the slavery-era rule.

Reforming the filibuster is popular among voters and is supported by
President Biden and most Senate Democrats.(5) Courage California is
planning a final push to get the rest on board.
