Late last night, Donald Trump was at it again in Mar-a-Lago, sending out a blatantly false statement attacking Adam for doing his job and holding Trump accountable.

It’s a hodgepodge of the usual denials of Russian help in his election, lies about the insurrection, and false smears, but don’t take it from us. We’ll let you read Trump’s bonkers statement for yourself:

This isn’t normal. But it’s the world of politics we live in today. Where a disgraced former president can smear a sitting Congressman, call him an anti-Semitic slur, and label a violent insurrection at the Capitol a “protest.”

Here’s what happens after: hundreds of tweets from right-wing whackos on Twitter join Trump in attacking Adam, the statement is shown on Fox News and OAN leading to more attacks, and then there are stories in right-wing tabloids written about Trump’s attack and subsequent tweets.

It’s a vicious cycle, and red meat for Trump’s base. He feeds on the bile. But the cost is real: it leads to more threats against Adam. (Which is another thing Trump wants.)

Adam is never going to stop holding Donald Trump accountable. Never. No matter what. And that’s why we need to be prepared heading into the 2022 election.
