The Providence Journal: Pinterest to undergo corporate diversity reform to settle suit led by RI General Treasurer

Team,

After revelations of widespread workplace discrimination and retaliation against women and people of color at internet giant Pinterest, I took action to hold them accountable.

I filed a lawsuit on behalf of the thousands of Rhode Islanders who own shares in Pinterest through the state's pension fund, and I'm thrilled to say we won! This settlement is the first of its kind to embrace diversity goals and it forced Pinterest to make sweeping reforms to the way it hires, trains and supports employees.

Everyone deserves to be treated with respect in their workplace regardless of race, gender or identity. We have to be proactive to ensure workers are treated fairly and companies understand that diversity, equity, and inclusion should be a priority in every boardroom and workplace.

I will continue working as Treasurer to ensure this historic settlement sets a new standard for corporate diversity and inclusion practices nationally. And as Governor of Rhode Island, I will continue working to hold corporations accountable. Your support has allowed me to do this work, and I am very grateful.

If you would like to continue to support this work, please consider a contribution to my campaign.

Thank you,

Seth
