From Republican attacks on voting rights.

Republicans launched a coordinated assault on voting rights across the country to dilute Democratic voting power.

Last month, the Department of Justice filed a lawsuit seeking to block Texas’s new voting restrictions, citing several ways in which Republicans are blocking , and not protecting as the GOP claims, access to the ballot box.

Future Forum Vice-Chair Colin Allred (TX-32), and members Joaquin Castro (TX-20) and Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07) also joined the fight by sending a letter to their Senate colleagues urging them to pass urgent voting rights legislation and stop these blatant attacks.

Here are just a few of the restrictions Texas Republicans put into place:

* Banned 24 hour and drive through voting
* Allowed more access to partisan poll watchers
* Restricted voter assistance at the polls and restrictions on which absentee ballots cast by eligible voters can be accepted by election officials

These are direct attacks against eligible voters with limited English proficiency, voters with disabilities, older voters, members of the military deployed away from home, and American citizens living outside our country, just to name a few.
