Did you hear the HUGE news? Stacey Abrams just announced she is running for governor of Georgia!1
And that's not all: Beto O'Rourke just launched his campaign for governor of Texas!2
The gubernatorial elections in Georgia and Texas will be two of the most important and hotly contested elections next year, and we know the GOP will spread despicable lies and use every racist and sexist tool they can to take down Beto and Stacey.
That's why we need to have their backs—starting right now.
As Georgia Republicans pass disgusting, Jim Crow-style voter suppression laws, Abrams—a towering figure in the fight to protect voting rights—is running to protect our constitutional right to the ballot box.3
And as Texas Governor Greg Abbott bans the mask and vaccine mandates recommended by public health officials and throws his support to anti-vaccine conspiracy theorists, Beto O'Rourke is running on a pro-science, pro-vaccine, and pro-public health platform.4
In the face of a Republican Party that is committed to destroying our democracy, endangering lives during a global pandemic, and spreading misinformation, Stacey Abrams and Beto O'Rourke are the kinds of progressive leaders we desperately need in office.
That's why MoveOn will pull out all the stops to support their campaigns and defeat their extreme Republican opponents.
In the future, we will ask you to volunteer your time, make phone calls, send text messages, and more to support Beto and Stacey. But right now, the most important thing we can do to support their campaigns is to ensure they have the financial means to hire organizers and get their campaigns started on the right foot.
