A few weeks ago, we sent you an email showing how Republican gerrymandering across the country will make it harder for Democrats to win in 2022.
Now, even more states have drafted maps, and the situation is getting worse: recently proposed maps will decrease the number of competitive House seats from 21 to 12.
That’s 9 competitive House seats that Democrats won’t get a chance to flip. Instead, swing and lean-Democrat districts are being transformed into GOP incumbent safe havens, giving Republicans a competitive edge over Democrats in the overall House district map—currently leaving 55 seats leaning Democrat and 90 seats leaning Republican.
What’s more, Democrats only have an 8 seat advantage in the House of Representatives right now.
John, we can’t afford to slow down ahead of the 2022 midterm elections. We need to be putting our all behind defending the Democratic House majority in the face of GOP gerrymandering.
