Huge update, John.

A major step was just taken in our effort to remove spent nuclear waste from the now decommissioned nuclear generating station at San Onofre. Let me explain:

In 2020, I authored a letter to the House Appropriations Committee urging them to allocate funds for a Department of Energy program that would help relocate spent fuel to safer storage sites -- a critical step in protecting South Orange County from disaster.

The funding measure passed, and this week, the Biden administration announced it is now seeking information to help find communities who are willing to host nuclear waste storage sites.

Progress is being made, John, but we don't have much time. When it comes to spent fuel sites, there’s no place like San Onofre. A worst-case scenario disaster here would be devastating for our communities. But with your help, we are a step closer to averting a crisis.

We may only have one chance to get this right. I’m working hard, but I need all the help I can get to stay in Congress so we can get this done. Will you step up and donate $3 to show your support for my efforts to address the nuclear waste at San Onofre?

Thanks,

Mike
