Today’s GOP tends to care a lot about masculinity. Case in point: Republican Representative Madison Cawthorn of North Carolina is trying to convince anyone who will listen that he’s an authority on the subject. But if Cawthorn knew any better, he’d realize that putting down others doesn’t make him more of a man. 

From telling mothers that they should raise their sons to be “monsters” to decrying that today’s culture is trying to “demasculate” all young men, Cawthorn is stoking a right-wing culture war. All he wants is attention.

We need to condemn Republicans like Cawthorn who encourage toxicity amongst men. It’s time to put a stop to this type of rhetoric and influence over Americans.
