John, Nearly 50 years ago, a mother of a gay son gathered with other parents and LGBTQ+ people to hold the very first meeting of what would be known as PFLAG. Today, we honor that special mom -- PFLAG founder Jeanne Manford, who would’ve been 101 years old. Jeanne’s decision to march the streets of New York with a homemade sign in support of her son Morty changed the course of history -- and the lives of millions who have been helped by PFLAG. (As a mom to an LGBTQ+ kid myself, I’m one of them!) In honor of our founder Jeanne Manford’s 101st birthday, donate to PFLAG National with a gift of any amount -- and together, we can help millions more LGBTQ+ people, parents, and families who need us. PFLAG saved my family’s life … PFLAG was there for me when I needed it … I wish my parents had known of PFLAG... These are just some of the messages I’ve heard from PFLAGers all across the country – and I know if Jeanne was here today, she would be proud of the impact we’ve made in the last nearly fifty years. From marriage equality to workplace protections to changing hearts and minds one family at a time, you’ve made a difference by supporting PFLAG. But until every LGBTQ+ person is respected, affirmed, and protected from discrimination, our work will not stop. Celebrate Jeanne -- and every parent, family member, and ally who followed her brave path -- by making a special gift to PFLAG National today. It’s truly amazing how simple acts of love can save lives and change the world. Thank you for celebrating Jeanne and PFLAG’s impactful history with us. Sincerely, Kathy Godwin (she/her) President, PFLAG National |
