Dear Friends,

We're closing out the week with Bradley's story, which shows how difficult getting an ID can be—figuring out what is needed, how to get it, and how to pay for it.

Bradley is a veteran who moved to Florida to help family. After his mom passed away, he found himself homeless and struggling. But Bradley has more recently been in recovery and trying to get back on his feet. He had an expired ID from another state and lacked the resources to get a Florida ID. Our Spread The Vote colleagues ordered Bradley's birth certificate, which never arrived. They contacted the vital statistics office and they sent another copy. Then at the DMV, Bradley was mistakenly told he wasn't eligible for an ID because of a suspended license in another state. Spread The Vote called the DMV supervisor about the error and Bradley was allowed to come as a walk-in the next day to get his ID.

What if Bradley didn't have the guiding hand and advocacy provided by the Spread The Vote team? That's the reality tens of thousands of veterans face. And that's why we're determined to get states to provide #FreeIDsForVets ([link removed]) . But we can't do it alone.
