John,
In an interview with Bloomberg this morning, Nancy Pelosi said: “I'm not a big fan of Medicare for All...I think that we should have Health Care for All” and then recited Republican talking points about the cost and people’s preference for their private insurance.
The only way we can guarantee that every person has health care is through Medicare for All.
Anything less than Medicare for All still allows for a tiered system that lets billionaire CEOs profit while millions of Americans are driven into debt for medical expenses. Medical bills are the number one reason for bankruptcy in the United States. In the wealthiest nation on the planet, this is absolutely unacceptable.
We’re up against the entrenched establishment that would rather recite Republican talking points about what isn’t feasible than push to do what’s right for working families across the country. Medicare for All would mean no more copays, premiums, or deductibles and no more fighting with insurance companies to get payments for necessary care.
Every other major country on earth guarantees health care to its people through a single-payer system. But Big Pharma and corporations have lined the pockets of campaigns of corporate Democrats and that corruption has stopped the Democratic Party from leading on this issue.
We can do this, but it’s going to take a movement of people who are willing to make their voice heard and stand up against the corporate establishment.
We need to show Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic establishment how strong our movement for Medicare for All is and that Medicare for All is the only acceptable answer to this crisis facing working families across America.
Thank you for taking action today,
Justice Democrats
