It’s been two days since the Supreme Court heard the oral arguments for Dobbs
v. Jackson Women’s Health. While we won’t have a decision until next summer, we
know that the Court can’t uphold Mississippi’s 15-week ban without striking
down the right to abortion granted underRoe. Comments on Wednesday from the
majority GOP-appointed justices were sympathetic to Mississippi’s cruel law,
and Democrats are continuing to sound the alarm that the politically-motivated
Court could deliver a devastating blow toRoe. If that happens, we need to have
strong Democratic majorities in both the House and Senate to save abortion
rights.

Reproductive rights shouldn’t be left to states to decide: Roe affirmed that
access to safe and legal abortion is a constitutional right, meaning it should
be guaranteed to all Americans, regardless of what state they live in. A ruling
in favor of Mississippi’s law would undermine women’s rights, and profoundly
challenge finances, family planning, women’s health, and the life trajectories
of parents and children. ADobbs ruling would also set a dangerous new
precedent, that has potential to threaten other settled constitutional rights,
like the use of contraception and same-sex marriage.

Congressional Democrats have been working consistently for years to protect
women’s rights, but we need your help to continue the fight. Can you chip in
$25 today?

We won’t get a ruling on the case until June, but we will not just stand by
and wait to react. This fight is happening now, and when we have Democrats like
Doris in office, we have representatives who won’t let the Court undermine
human rights in America. Doris proudly cosponsors theWomen’s Health Protection
Act, legislation that puts Roe’s protections into law. Doris knows we need to
pass this legislation now, but we need your support and to elect more Democrats
to get this done.

Doris is strongly pro-choice. NARAL pro-choice America gave Doris a 100 percent
rating, certifying her status as a top supporter of the right to choose. You
can see her full report cardhere

all the bills relating to abortion, pregnancy, and paternity that she’s voted
in favor of.Remember, you can still donate to support Doris and other
pro-choice candidates.

Thank you for your help. We’ll let you know as soon as there’s more news.
