The oral arguments at the Supreme Court this week made one thing clear: Roe v. Wade may very well be struck down before next summer, John.
If that happens, it potentially means abortion bans in up to 26 states. But we're not powerless here. There is something we can do right now to protect reproductive rights and you can help.
Thousands of WFP supporters nationwide are calling on the Senate to act immediately to abolish the filibuster and pass the Women's Health Protection Act to codify Roe v. Wade into law. If you agree, can you add your name to our petition?

Subject: Abortion is essential health care. Reproductive freedom is a fundamental right.
John,
Yesterday, the Supreme Court heard oral arguments in Dobbs v. Jackson Women's Health Organization, a challenge to a Mississippi law that bans abortion entirely after 15 weeks.
By bringing the case to the Supreme Court, Mississippi is asking the court to reverse decades of precedent and overturn Roe v. Wade.
While we probably won't find out the Supreme Court's decision for months, we know it's very likely that they will either effectively or officially overturn Roe v. Wade, potentially leading to abortion bans in up to 26 states. It's clear: We must codify a pregnant person's right to abortion into federal law, and Congress can do it by passing the Women's Health Protection Act.
The House has already passed this important bill. Now it's on the Senate to act. Can you add your name to our petition calling the Senate to pass the Women's Health Protection Act immediately?

The overturning of Roe v. Wade and the elimination of a pregnant person's right to an abortion is a project decades in the making by Republicans, who have played the long game packing state legislatures and the courts at every level of government. States have already enacted more than 100 abortion restrictions in 2021, making it the worst year on record for abortion access1 — and 2022 will be even worse if Roe v. Wade falls.
We already know who these kinds of laws end up hurting the most, especially if the constitutional right to abortion is overturned: low-income and working-class people who can't afford reproductive healthcare or who are unable to travel out of state to seek care. But we're fighting back.
Democrats have power thanks to voters who gave them the White House and control of both houses of Congress. If they want voters to be with them in 2022, they must reform the filibuster and fight RIGHT NOW for reproductive rights.
No excuses: The Senate must pass the Women's Health Protection Act and codify Roe v. Wade into law by any means necessary. If you agree, add your name to our petition right now.
