Folks, Spending time outdoors is one of life’s simple pleasures. Everyone, from people in New Mexico to across the country, should be able to easily access and enjoy our beautiful lands. That’s why I introduced the bipartisan Simplifying Outdoor Access for Recreation (SOAR) Act — it will finally simplify and streamline our country’s process for issuing outdoor recreation permits. Our current permitting process is outdated and far too complicated. It regularly stops outfitters and organized groups from making use of our public lands. That’s a shame. Not only does everyone deserve to spend time on our lands — outdoor recreation supports our economy by generating billions of dollars in revenue and creating millions of jobs. We need to pass these common sense changes to the permitting process to both boost our economy and help the next generation get outdoors.
