[ [link removed] ]Welch for Vermont

Hello,

For nearly five decades now, Roe v. Wade has been the law of the land. The
constitutional right to an abortion has helped make it possible for folks
to shape their own futures, for families to decide how and when they grow,
and for more people to have equity of opportunity.

The meaning of the Constitution hasn’t changed since then — just the
membership of the Supreme Court.

With three new justices appointed by Donald Trump, we now face the most
conservative Supreme Court in history.

We cannot count on them to do the right thing and overturn Mississippi’s
unconstitutional 15-week abortion ban, which they heard oral arguments on
this week. Instead, it falls on us to protect reproductive rights.

[ [link removed] ]I co-sponsored the Women’s Health Protection Act, which would codify
Roe into federal law. It has passed the House and now awaits a vote in the
Senate. Add your name to say it’s time for the Senate to pass this
critical bill, even if it means getting rid of the filibuster.

The Women’s Health Protection Act would protect the right to choose no
matter what the Supreme Court decides in this Mississippi case.

If we don’t pass this bill, and if the Supreme Court guts or overturns Roe
v. Wade, the health of millions will be jeopardized. And we know who will
be harmed the most: people of color, people with disabilities, young
people, immigrants, and those struggling to make ends meet.

For a safer and more equitable future, this is the moment to do everything
we can to protect abortion rights.

I will keep up the fight in Washington, and in times like these, I’m
grateful to know that we’re in this together.

[ [link removed] ]If you have a moment, please sign your name and say it’s time for the
Senate to pass the Women’s Health Protection Act.

All my best,

Peter
