Dear John,
Roe v Wade, a historic court ruling that reaffirmed that humans have the right to make decisions about their own body and health is at risk. Trump's multiple conservative appointees to the Supreme Court and Mitch's refusal to allow President Obama to appoint a Justice onto the court for nearly two years, put us in this grim situation. Simply put, Republicans stacked the deck in their favor by playing dirty and now they're reaping the benefits by tearing down basic rights.
While we can't change the current situation of the Supreme Court's leaning, we can elect a Democrat to Governor next year, by keeping Pennsylvania blue. A Governor that will be instrumental in acting as a stop gap to protect abortion rights throughout Pennsylvania. Additionally, it's critical that we invest at the local level in pro choice candidates so that we can enact legislation that will protect Planned Parenthood and Women's access to healthcare.
While I cannot express my continued dismay with this likely ruling by the Supreme Court, I can ensure you that I will always be an advocate for women's rights in whatever way I can.
