Friends,

This week I spoke at the Energy and Commerce Big Tech Subcommittee hearing on holding big tech accountable - While everyone has been distracted by the internal research that Frances Haugen revealed to the public, no one has been asking the more important questions. How does Facebook decide what misinformation is? Who are these fact checkers and why should they be trusted? I asked in this hearing.

I also explained the truth about the continuing resolution that Congress just voted on, why we voted against it, and address the comments being made about how this affects vaccine mandates.

Remember, if you are having a problem with a federal agency, please do not hesitate to reach out to my offices. Helping constituents with casework is one of my top priorities in Congress and I have a full team in Houston and Washington, D.C. ready to assist you.

Sincerely,

Why did we all vote against the Continuing Resolution? First, a CR is a continuation of the last budget, in this case the same budget under President Trump. So on the one hand, we should be pretty happy with CR’s for as long as Biden is President. Better to have last year’s budget than a new Democrat led budget. On the other hand, this particular CR only goes until February. I think it should be longer, at least 6 months out. In this video I also address the strange comments being made about how this CR affects vaccine mandates (spoiler alert: it doesn’t).

Did any of you know that Frances Haugen’s position at Facebook was with the Civic Misinformation department? While everyone has been distracted by the internal research she revealed to the public, no one has been asking the more important questions: how does Facebook decide what misinformation is? Who are these fact checkers and why should they be trusted? So I asked.

Mike Solana joins us to look at the revolutionary impact of social media on culture, politics, and the future of civilization. Americans have always been divided roughly 50/50 on partisan and ideological lines. But what happened when it became possible for a single piece of information - true or false - to reach hundreds of millions of people in minutes? Mike also gives us an insider's perspective on the culture wars playing out in Silicon Valley and explains why conservatives can and should offer a more compelling vision of the future.
