Join Rick on a crucial initiative: he believes it is time to abolish the debt ceiling, which has become a weapon against common sense and smart financial planning.

Republicans are threatening to default on our financial obligations, an absolutely ludicrous idea. America will not declare bankruptcy.

Not only that, but their political position is outrageous and hypocritical—they are the ones who busted things wide open with their gigantic Trump tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans and biggest corporations.

Rick firmly believes that we need to do what is best for America and show the world that we will protect the full faith and credit of the United States of America.

Tell Congress to stop playing high-stakes games with Americans' lives: read Rick's note below and then sign our petition urging Congress to end the debt ceiling for good. [[link removed]]

The debt ceiling needs to be eliminated.

Politicians have been weaponizing the debt ceiling as long as it has existed, and it is wrong.

This has been especially true in the time after Donald Trump's presidency, where we saw tax cuts for the wealthiest Americans that piled up debt—and then that same debt used as a reason to deny assistance to our most vulnerable communities.

Join me and a coalition of my colleagues, community leaders, and grassroots activists to take on this challenge.

It does not have to be this way. Congress created the debt ceiling; Congress can abolish it.

Abolish it? Yes. After all, once Congress accrues debt—good, bad, or otherwise—it is Congress's responsibility to make the payments on the debt.

Consider this: If your family racked up debt and then refused to make the payments on that debt, what would happen? Your assets would be seized and you would be forced into bankruptcy.

America will not declare bankruptcy. So let's end the political games around the debt ceiling.

I want us to be the coalition that finally brings common sense and urgency to this discussion.

We need to do what is best for America and show the world that we will protect the full faith and credit of the United States of America. We must stop playing high-stakes games with Americans' lives.

Please sign the petition. Urge Congress to eliminate the debt ceiling permanently. [[link removed]]
