This could harm hundreds of thousands of vulnerable children.

Friend,

Today, President Trump proposed a nationwide rule that would strip crucial anti-discrimination protections on the basis of religion, sex, sexual orientation and gender identity for all Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) programs.

This rule goes far beyond the religious exemption that AU and our client, Aimee Maddonna, have been fighting in South Carolina’s foster care system. That waiver allowed Aimee to be turned away from helping kids in foster care because she was the “wrong” religion.

By removing these critical protections from all HHS-funded programs, the Trump Administration is trying to make this discrimination legal nationwide.

This is a RED ALERT violation of religious freedom and we are deploying all of our available resources to fight back. Can we count on your support?

FIGHT BACK!

If enacted, this proposed HHS rule would strip away non-discrimination protections from programs that help our country’s most vulnerable people.

Across the country, senior citizens, youth experiencing homelessness, and children who deserve loving homes will all feel the effects of the discrimination this rule would allow.

This proposed rule is unacceptable, plain and simple. Please click here to make an emergency gift to help us stop discrimination in the name of religion.

We are only now learning the full consequences of this announced rule. Stay tuned for more information over the coming weeks.

Thank you for your support,

Maggie Garrett
VP of Public Policy
