** Mobile Apps Perpetuate Stigma Among Sexual Minority Men
------------------------------------------------------------
Mobile dating apps, such as Grindr, Scruff, and GROWLr, play a central role in the lives of young sexual minority men, particularly in formulating, finding, and understanding their place within sexual minority communities. A new study of sexual minority men, ages 19-25, finds that these apps also harbor experiences of stigma within the community—particularly related to body type, race/ethnicity, gender expression, and sexual position.

The COVID-19 pandemic has used criminal law to combat the spread of communicable disease. It is a strategy that has been used for three decades in an attempt to control HIV. This course will examine the medical and legal background underlying the criminalization of disease to inform the application of relevant laws, evaluate pleas, consider evidence and expertise, and determine sentences.
