1. NC VALUES: 🔬 It is time for
the law to catch up with the science
Earlier today, I stood in front of the
Supreme Court with other pro-lifers as they heard oral arguments for
Dobbs v. Jackson, a case that arose from Mississippi’s “Gestational
Age Act” passed in 2018. The Act bans abortions after 15 weeks
gestational age and contains limited exceptions. We
were very fortunate to file an amicus brief in this important
case.
The science that helped craft early abortion laws is 50 years
old, and now it’s time to close that gap and look at abortion laws
through a new lens, a more accurate lens. Science now shows that
unborn babies at 15 weeks have all the features of a living human
being, including a heartbeat!
It is time for the law to catch up with
the science!
2. STEVE NOBLE SHOW: NC
Values' Tami Fitzgerald interview with Steve Noble over the future of
Roe v. Wade.
Earlier this week we were live with our
good friend, Steve Noble, on his radio show. Check out the video to
learn more about how the oral hearings went, and what we think the
future may be for Roe v. Wade.
3.US NEWS: NC Supreme Court's
No. 2 Justice Won't Seek Reelection
"North
Carolina Supreme Court Justice Robin Hudson announced on
Wednesday that she won't seek reelection next year, citing mandatory
age limits that would significantly curtail her service if she
won."
4. ICYMI: The Mama Bear
Manual
We're excited to share with you a document we put together called
the Mama Bear Manual. This manual will help you identify what is
harmful and give you strategies to defeat it.
The issue addressed in this manual is whether parents have the
right to educate their children according to their values.
Together, we can make a positive impact for truth for our
children.
5. ICYMI: Still not too late to
help us out with our earlier #GivingTuesday fundraiser
Since our inception as an organization, defending the unborn has
been central to the purpose of our existence. Whether it is
championing pro-life legislation like our Human Life Nondiscrimination
Act (HB453), or filing amicus briefs for important pro-life cases like
Dobbs vs. Jackson, we are doing our part to advance the cause of life.
We're even planning to be in D.C. this week to amplify your voice on
the steps of the Supreme Court during oral arguments.
Earlier this week was #GivingTuesday,
a global day of generosity that took place November 30th. It's was a
great opportunity to support organizations that are working to protect
the lives of the unborn. If you did not get an opportunity to
give, it's still not too late to share your generosity with us. We
would be very grateful.
WEEKLY PRAYER: FAMILY
LORD, we cry out to you as Father. You are a model of the love,
mercy, and authority of the perfect parent. We thank you for modeling
for us what every parent should strive for, and for creating this
wonderful institution called family.
LORD, we thank you for creating us with a basic nature designed
to not be alone. You made us to desire the intimacy of relationships,
and it is here where we experience joys indescribable: the joys of
marriage, the joys of having children; the joys of seeing our children
have children. What a blessing and mercy you gave us in the family! In
it we find our first teachers, our first guardians, and our first
authorities.
LORD, we recognize how deeply you love your children, and how
deeply it pains you when they go astray. Alongside our adoration and
thanksgiving, we pray in confession—as individuals and as members of
larger communities—over any sins we may have committed that undermine
your beloved institution. Forgive us when we endanger your institution
through selfishness and arrogance. Forgive our communities and nation
for attempting to redefine some of the most basic and deepest parts of
being human—being made male and female, having lifelong marriage vows
and responsibilities, and having parental rights over educating one's
children.
"Put on then, as God's chosen ones, holy and beloved,
compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness, and patience, 13
bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another,
forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must
forgive. 14 And above all these put on love, which binds everything
together in perfect harmony. And let the peace of Christ rule in your
hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body. And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing
one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual
songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God. And whatever you do,
in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving
thanks to God the Father through him." (Colossians 3:12-17)
Amen
