December 2021
Dear Friend,
The end of the year is fast approaching and the 2022 elections are just around the corner. That means Ruth’s List has no time to waste when it comes to recruiting and training more Democratic pro-choice women to run for office at all levels of state and local government in Florida.
Republicans have gotten more brazen with their attacks, undermining local leaders across our state and putting the health and safety of Floridians at risk. Right before Thanksgiving, Florida legislators were forced to spend their time and resources in a special session, which amounted to nothing more than a political stunt by Governor DeSantis to punish Florida businesses that mandate vaccinations.
The only way to ensure our voices are heard is to elect people who represent our interests. When Republicans introduced a Texas-style anti-abortion bill earlier this year, it was strong women leaders in the Florida House and Senate who led the charge against it. And as the conservative-majority Supreme Court begins to hear oral arguments in the case that could overturn Roe v. Wade, abortion access in Florida could fall into the hands of the Republican-controlled legislature.
With your help, we can kickstart our efforts and be in the best position possible ahead of next year’s elections. [[link removed]]
Thanks for being such a vital part of our effort to grow and support women's leadership.
Onward,
